Thinking Approach for Learners

Creativity and Thinking Skills in Language Education

We are happy to let you know that our new course on the Thinking Approach to language teaching has been included in the Comenius/Grundtvig catalogue of the European Commission. This means that if you come from a country participating in the EU educational programmes you can receive a grant to cover your participation in the course by applying to your national agency.  However, the participation is not limited to the EU countries and you are more than welcome wherever in the world you are based. The course we would like to offer you is called Creativity and Thinking Skills in Language Education. The course will take place in Jurmala, a famous sea resort 25 km away from Riga, the capital of Latvia.


Course dates:

Option 1 - 19 - 25 Sep 2010 (deadline for grant applications in your National Agency is 30 April 2010)
Option 2 - 10 - 16 Apr 2011 (deadline for grant applications in your National Agency is 15 Sep 2010)
Option 3 - 18 - 24 Sep 2011 (deadline for grant applications in your National Agency is 30 April 2011)



Objective:

  • Provide the participants with tools for the development of creativity and thinking skills in language education.

Who should attend:

  • Language teachers and teacher trainers (any language).
  • Policy makers and educational administrators.
  • Specialists interested in the development of thinking skills.

Course contents:

  • Creativity and thinking skills in learning grammar. Developing and testing own grammar rules.
  • Powerful thinking when working with a text. Creative works in language learning.
  • Learner autonomy. E-resources for teaching language and thinking.

A teacher and teacher trainer specilizing in the development of thinking skills of young learners.

 

Dr. Alexander Sokol
